Dr. Jay P. Boyle
Dr. Jay Boyle was born and raised in Mechanicsville and graduated cum laude from the Medical College of Virginia in 1992. After completing his education in dental school, he was accepted into the Advanced Education and General Dentistry Residency program with the U.S. Air Force. As part of his residency, Dr. Jay received advanced education in areas of dental specialties. Since his residency, he has been made a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor that is accomplished only after completing over 500 hours of advanced learning and committing to stay up-to-date with dental advances. This is an honor achieved by only 5% of general dentists in the U.S. Because Dr. Jay has received his Fellowship, you can be assured that you are in experienced, trained, and gentle hands.
Dr. Jay was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years of total service, 4 of which were spent in the Reserve. He ended his military career with honor as a Major in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Jay is committed to advancing his education through courses and training, thus allowing him to provide his patients with professional care. Dr. Jay Boyle is a member of the American Dental Association and Richmond Dental Society, and is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.
In 2002, Dr. Jay joined forces with his wife and partner, and together they established their own practice in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Dr. Jay has loved watching their practice grow and being able to care for their loyal, wonderful patients.
Dr. Jay is actively involved in the community, as he considers it a privilege to provide dental service outside of the office. He is involved in a variety of projects, including the Mission of Mercy projects, working with the Virginia Dental Association’s Donated Dental program to donate services in-office to less fortunate residents, and opening his practice to provide dental care to community children through the Give Kids a Smile program. Dr. Jay also participates in the Annual Candy Buy Back program, in association with Operation Gratitude, to provide care packages to our troops who are overseas. He also volunteers at the Mechanicsville Dental Clinic on a regular basis.
Dr. Jay stays busy with his practice and community volunteering, but he is also busy with his family. He loves being able to support his two children, David and Morgan, in their studies and activities. Dr. Jay also supports his children’s school by being a sponsor for the Lee-Davis athletics, both financially and by providing emergency and preventive services to the athletes. Dr. Jay and his wife, Dr. Kimberly Boyle, also established and sponsored a scholarship for a college-bound senior who was interested in joining the dental field. He is pleased to work with his family to help give back to the community that has welcomed and supported his family and his practice.
Dr. Kimberly Boyle
Dr. Kimberly Boyle graduated from the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in 1987. From there, she moved to Virginia and worked as a part-time dental hygienist while she attended Virginia Commonwealth University. She was accepted to the School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia and graduated in 1992. After completing her degree, Dr. Kim continued her education by receiving advanced training in dental specialties through the University of Maryland’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency. Dr. Kim then joined a private practice career in Wyoming while she and Dr. Jay were stationed with the U.S. Air Force. In additional to her private practice, she was actively involved in the dental education instruction at Wyoming’s school for dental hygiene. Dr. Kim has remained active in dental advancements and often reaches out to local schools and senior homes to teach the importance of dental care. Dr. Kim is an active member of the American Dental Association and Richmond Dental Society.
Dr. Kim and her husband, Dr. Jay Boyle, combined their experience and skills to create their own practice in 2002. She has loved watching their practice grow as, together, they have provided personalized and compassionate care to their patients. Loyal patients and team members have made her work worthwhile.
Dr. Kim is an active volunteer and sponsor in local community events. She considers it a privilege and priority to provide her skills and support outside of the office to those who are in need. Over the years, Dr. Kim has been involved in a variety of events. She has opened her office to community children to provide dental care through the Give Kids a Smile program, provided charity care for the Mission of Mercy projects, worked with the Virginia Dental Association’s Donated Dental program to provide in-office dental care to less-fortunate residents, and worked with Operation Gratitude in the Annual Candy Buy Back program to provide care packages for our troops who are overseas. Dr. Kim also regularly volunteers at Mechanicsville Christian Center’s Mechanicsville Dental Clinic.
Not only does Dr. Kim volunteer in her community, but she and Dr. Jay also help support and provide for their local schools and students. Dr. Kim is pleased to support her children, David and Morgan, in their interests. She also enjoys being a financial sponsor for the Lee-Davis athletics groups and providing dental care to its athletes. With her husband, Dr. Kim established a scholarship for a high-school senior who was heading to college to pursue his or her interests in the dental profession; this scholarship will continue to be offered for more students in the years to come. Dr. Kim is pleased to be able to give back to the community who has welcomed and supported the Boyles and their practice.
Dr. Brandon Schafer
Dr. Schafer was raised in the panhandle of Florida before attending the University of Florida in Gainesville and graduating with a B.A. in microbiology. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with a DMD. While attending University of Pittsburgh, he met his wife, Jillian, who is also a dentist. Jillian completed a residency at McGuire VA Hospital, which brought the two to the Richmond area. Brandon, Jillian, and their son, Patrick, will be calling Virginia home!
Dr. Schafer is an experienced dentist who is constantly improving his dental knowledge and skill set by attending continuing education classes and keeping up to date with the latest research. Dr. Schafer is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Clear Aligners.
In his free time, Dr. Schafer enjoys golfing, fishing, traveling, and watching his baby boy, Patrick, grow up.
Sandra – Office Manager
Sandra manages the daily administrative functions, ensuring that we consistently give our patients the highest quality service possible. She mostly works behind the scenes, but enjoys opportunities to interact with our patients. Sandra is a member of the AADOM. She loves serving the community in which she was raised. Sandra is married and has a daughter in college. Her hobbies include camping, craft beer, and supporting local music since her daughter is in several bands.
Kristen – Treatment Coordinator
Kristen educates our patients on the importance of their treatment plans and arranges the best possible financial plan to help patients achieve their ultimate dental goals. It is so rewarding to see patients achieve these goals! She has been part of our team for 9 years. Kristen has been married for 12 years and has two children, ages 9 and 7. She loves spending time with family and friends.
Ava – Insurance Coordinator
Ava runs the insurance aging reports, updates contractual fees with insurance companies, obtains a benefit breakdown for each patient, and helps answer any questions patients have regarding their policy. Ava joined our office in 2012 after graduating from Lee-Davis. She has grown up as a patient of Boyle Dentistry, and now that she works here, everyone feels like family. Ava also sings locally in several bands and loves music.
Staci – RDH
Staci motivates patients to keep up with their preventive care, and encourages and educates them so that they can restore their smiles to optimal health. Staci has been with us for 3 years and loves working within her hometown community—it makes her feel very connected. She also enjoys working with patients to set goals and improve their oral health. Staci attended VCU School of Dentistry for a BS in RH and RDH, graduating in 2013. She recently married her husband, Sean, and rides and shows horses for fun.
Jean – Certified Dental Assistant
Jean has over 20 years’ experience as a dental assistant and loves helping people. She joined Boyle Dentistry about a year ago and enjoys working with our doctors and team. Prior to working here, she taught 4-handed dentistry, ergonomics, and utilizing dental assistants to the senior dental students at VCU Dental School for two years. She has also earned the Clinical Proficiency Award. Jean has two sons and spends her free time gardening and doing arts and crafts.
Crystal – Dental Assistant
Crystal always tries her best to help our team, work as a team member, and make our patients comfortable and happy. She feels like our office is a family, and loves helping patients gain and maintain healthy smiles. Crystal has been a dental assistant for 10 years now, having started in a small dental office and discovered a passion for dentistry. She graduated from Lee-Davis in 2006 and earned her certifications at VCU School of Dentistry. In her free time, Crystal enjoys being outside with her two children, Crystina (7) and Rafael (3).
Grace – Dental Assistant
Grace works with Dr. Jay and keeps patients comfortable while they are here, using her southern charm and humor to keep visits fun. Grace was a certified dental assistant in Alabama for 17 years prior to moving here and joining our team in 2010. She loves being part of a staff that’s also like family and does a lot of out-of-the-office team activities. She has been married to her husband since 2011 and has 3 children and 1 grandchild. She enjoys concerts, SEC football, travelling, and making bets with Dr. Jay about sports. Grace is a big fan of Prince and Garth Brooks.
Jamie – Dental Assistant
Jamie works primarily as Dr. Kim’s hygiene assistant. You will see her at every preventive care visit. She is very personable with our patients and looks forward to getting to know you! She is also responsible for ordering our dental office supplies so that our doctors and team always have the materials we need. Jamie has been with our office the longest, over 12 years, and loves working in a small practice where everyone is like family and the doctors are great. She and her husband have 2 children, Kaitlyn (born in 2005) and Clay (born in 2012). Jamie enjoys scrapbooking, taking pictures, and participating in family activities.
